The Secret Garden
On a recent, balmy Summer's eve, my new friend Savannah Stark (of Traditional Pattern) and I found solace in a small garden tucked away in SoHo that is only open to the public during very particular days/hours.
We were searching for a last minute location to shoot a very floral, feminine outfit and it just so happened that both fortune and Google maps smiled upon us as the garden was open and near-empty.
The perfectly controlled sunlight that poured in through each and every leafy gap like a white, golden liquid bathed our faces (and souls) as we took these photos and laughed over a shared realisation that our favourite places to create in New York City always seem to be those that don't look like the city at all.
As much as I adore the city it is still nice to escape, even for a moment and I hope these images effectively transport you to the dreamworld I prefer to live in and allow your mind to wander for a while ... <3
“Any patch of sunlight in a wood will show you something about the sun which you could never get from reading books on astronomy. These pure and spontaneous pleasures are ‘patches of Godlight’ in the woods of our experience.”
